The Havanese is a vigorous small companion dog that looks like a teddy bear and is very attached to its family. The expression in its eyes makes it simply adorable and endearing. Despite its small size, it is robust, making it an excellent playmate for children. It has a gentle nature, is sociable, and gets along well with everyone and other household pets.

The Havanese is believed to have been introduced to Cuba by Spanish colonists. Following the Cuban revolution in the 1950s, the breed was on the verge of extinction, but breeders abroad managed to preserve it. Today, the Havanese is experiencing a well-deserved resurgence in popularity. It is appreciated worldwide for its joyful, affectionate nature and its ability to adapt to any environment.

It is very easy to train, with minimal but appropriate barking, making it an excellent dog for novices. It has a fun personality that charms everyone it meets.

Physical Characteristics
